A 19-year-old male college student presents with a three-week history of a severe, intensely pruritic rash that initially appeared in the flexural areas of his arms and legs but which has now spread to his face, neck, and trunk. The itching is debilitating, especially at night, causing significant sleep disturbances. He has used over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream without relief. Over the last 48 hours, he has developed painful, weeping blisters on his face and neck, accompanied by fever and chills. He has a history of mild eczema in childhood and seasonal allergic rhinitis. His mother has asthma. He reports significant stress due to final exams.
